Rats Advance to Cyber Cup Finals

Minneapolis, MN - Fans in Minnesota are excstatic as the Minnesota Rink Rats completed a sweep against the Rocky Mountain Express in last night’s 8-3 win. Minnesota got up early in the game taking a 5-2 lead into the 2nd period and never looked back. The first line unit of Daymond Langkow, Derek Roy & Sergei Samsonov created quite a spark in the Rink Rats’ win. The unit scored 4 of Minnesota’s goals, including two from Roy.

The Rink Rats are headed to their first ever WHL Cup Finals under the direction of GM LaDouceur who is in his second full year as a WHL GM. Their opponent was decided last night as another sweep came across the WHL as the Niagara Falls Icedogs beat the Quebec City Corinthians in 4 games. The Icedogs will be tough opponents as the Rink Rats are 0-2-1 against the Icedogs this season. The Rink Rats have an improved squad since their last matchup but will be playing without Derek Morris who was suspended by the league for actions made in last night’s game against the Express. The loss of Morris will hurt the team but nevertheless Minnesota will move on likely replacing him with Karel Rachunek.

Prediction:
The Icedogs' Roberto Luongo has been red hot in this year's playoffs and he will need to continue to play well if the Icedogs want to win the Cup. The Rink Rats are sporting a rejuvenated offense and Ryan Miller isn't play so bad in goal either. Minnesota will need to continue to provide offense from all three lines and someone will have to step in for recently-suspended Derek Morris who will be out the first 4 games of the series. The suspension could be enough of an x factor for the Icedogs to get up early on Minnesota.
