Rats Pushing for Playoff Upset

Minneapolis, MN - The Minnesota Rink Rats are just one win away from pulling off one of the biggest upsets in WHL history. Led by veteran Daymond Langkow’s 6 goals and 5 assists as well as Ryan Miller’s 3.00 gaa & .890 sv%, the Rink Rats could close out their first ever playoff series win tonight against the 1st placed Las Vegas Bulls. In last night’s 5-3 win in Las Vegas, Minnesota got up to a 4-0 lead early in the game and held off Las Vegas’ late surge to take the series back to Minnesota. Minnesota was led by Langkow’s hat trick and Derek Roy’s 3 assists.

“Our guys have played really well against one of the best WHL clubs in league history,” stated Head Coach Barry Melrose. “Our whole team is contributing in one way or another and I’m really happy to see guys like Daymond, Roy, Miller & Burnsy step up. Our leaders have to contribute every night and I’m proud of the way they’ve played thus far. We need to really play hard in front of our fans this evening and hopefully we can steal this one away from the Bulls.”

Fans in Minnesota waited in line all evening for the chance to purchase a few of the remaining tickets for tonight’s game 6 playoff matchup. The Rink Rats, who say they enjoy being labeled as the underdog will have to play a controlled game and get under Tomas Vokoun’s skin early.
