Rats Starting to Gel

Not many teams are playing better hockey then the Minnesota Rink Rats right now and the reason for the team’s success has been due in large part to the spectacular play made by Derek Roy, Brent Burns, Daymond Langkow and Ryan Miller. In the 5-game stretch that the Rink Rats have gone unbeaten Derek Roy has 3 goals and 3 assists, Brent Burns has 1 goal and 8 assists, Daymond Langkow has 4 goals and 4 assists and Ryan Miller has posted a 2.00 gaa a .929 sv% and one shutout.

“I don’t think it’s been any one reason,” stated Derek Roy on his team’s recent success. “I think we’ve played great as a team and guys are starting to find chemistry with one another. We’ve worked really hard and hopefully we can continue to turn this thing around.”

Minnesota has gone 5 games unbeaten and has posted a 4-4-2 record in their past 10 games (in their previous 30 games Minnesota went 5-20-5). The resurgence hasn’t changed Minnesota’s place in the standings however, and they still sit at the bottom of their conference. “We’re hopeful that we can start playing with a little more consistency and move up in the standings a bit,” stated Head Coach, Barry Melrose. “The guys are starting to play more as a team rather then a bunch of individuals and I think a big part of that has been the acquisition of Daymond Langkow. We’re a young team and Daymond has really stepped up as a leader and shown these guys what it takes to win games. We may be at the bottom of the league right now but I feel like this team has an opportunity to win some more games before it’s all said and done.”
