Rats Take 2-0 Lead Back to Minny

Minneapolis, MN – The Minnesota Rink Rats head back home up 2-0 on the Rocky Mountain Express in the WHL Playoff Semi-Finals. The Rink Rats, who have been playing with a nothing to lose attitude, are making up for the team’s lack of post-season experience with a nasty combination of determination and hard work. Going into Game 3, the series has been tight thus far with only 2 goals separating the squads. Game 3 will be crucial for both teams as the Rink Rats look to closeout the series and advance to their first ever WHL Playoff Finals. Derek Roy, Daymond Langkow & Ryan Miller continue to lead the way for the young club, but others such as Patrick O’Sullivan, Sergei Samsonov, Ryan Potulny & Jamie Langenbrunner have found ways to enhance their output during this postseason.

“We’re playing really well right now and I’m proud of the way every one of our guys has played,” said Captain Jay Bouwmeester. “We’re coming off a couple of big road wins and we’re excited to head back home. The Express are a tough team and we know only a couple of bounces have separated us from losing either of the two games. We’ll have to continue playing our game and hopefully get a few more wins.”

Barry Melrose added: "It's great seeing our guys play so well on the road. Those were two big wins and we just need to continue this momentum back in Minneapolis in front of our fans. We have some of the best fans in the game in Minnesota, and I know they'll be getting under DiPietro's skin for games 3 & 4."
