Rats Get Huge Win; Swap Prospects

Minneapolis, MN - The Minnesota Rink Rats got their first win of the season last night at the expense of the Ottawa Capitols. In huge fashion, the Rink Rats' 2nd line of David Krejci, Jason Blake and Mike Cammalleri provided a huge boost for the team leading them to a 10-0 win. Following the win, Minnesota boarded a plane eading to Anchorage, Alaska to take on the surging Orcas.

The Orcas are currently undefeated and have looked pretty impressive in their first 3 games of the season playing well against some credible teams. Alaska carries 3 goaltenders on their squad and have quite the goaltending battle going on right now in youngsters Carey Price and Steve Mason. Captain Jamie Langenbrunner knows that his team will have to be prepared for the new look Orcas squad this evening.

"We'll have our hands full," stated Langenbrunner. "This Orcas team is improved over the past couple years so we'll have to put a lot of shots on net and hope we can get some through no matter who's in goal."

Other Rink Rat News
Minnesota announced today the acquisition of Kyle Turris in exchange for TJ Hensick. Turris was the 2nd overall in WHL13 and will likely be a fixture on the top line in a couple of seasons. It wasn't the trade GM Rink Rat was looking for but he's excited nonetheless. "You know, we've discussed with other GMs about guys like Danny Briere, Andy MacDonald, Petr Prucha, David Legwand and others to help improve our squad right now but for different reasons things didn't work out. Hensick has good potential but we're definitely excited about Turris."

Minnesota is rumored to not be done either. Rumor has it they are in talks of another prospect swap with the Lunatics. Nothing has been confirmed and neither team would comment on the issue but don't be surprised if something happens soon.
